The Light and Peace of the world

Are you broken? Or, do you feel empty most of the time? There is only One way to be fixed and feel complete and that way is our Savior and Lord Jesus Christ. He loved us and will forever love us.

This afternoon, I was reading The Book of Mormon, one of the scripture in the church where I belong, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

While reading, few verses from the 9th chapter of third Nephi caught my attention. It is inspiring and comforting, therefore I decided to share it here in my blog for you to read it.

“Yea, verily I say unto you, if ye will come unto me ye shall have eternal life. Behold, mine arm of mercy is extended towards you, and whosoever will come, him will I receive, and blessed are those who come unto me.

Behold, I am Jesus Christ, the Son of God. I created the heavens and the earth, and all things that in them are. I was with the Father from the beginning. I am in the Father, and the Father in me; and in me hath the Father glorified his name.

I came unto my own, and my own received me not. And the scriptures concerning my coming are fulfilled.

And as many as have received me, to them have I given to become the sons [and daughters] of God; and even so will I to as many as shall believe on my name, for behold, by me redemption cometh and in me the law of Moses fulfilled.

I am the light and the life of the world. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end.”

-Third Nephi 9:14-18

These verses will help us open our minds in the mysteries of God. To those who are believers and unbelievers, I want to testify that Jesus is the Living Christ, our Savior and Redeemer. He is the way and there is none other way, nor name given for us to feel peace, receive the light, and find true and eternal happiness in this life. But only through accepting Jesus Christ in our lives and striving to keep His commandments, even to the end.

He is the Man that made me feel endless and extraordinary person. We could reach our full potential through Him.

Let us light this world through light of Christ.

Thy experience shall be for thy own good

I was just inspired to write a short story about a college student, namely, Kayla (Kay) Reyes, that has realized that her struggles is for her own good.

As a working student, we often see how hard our life is. We don’t see the good things, but only see our hard work and effort. Sometime, we thought that we are cursed to live in this kind of life and was not able to see how merciful the Lord is to give us life in this world. In this short story, we could see how the marvelous hands of God wrought on our life. 😃

Enjoy reading 😊

“Hey, why you seem devastated? Is there any problem? Are you alright?” Shairah, her best friends sat beside her and stared on her exhausted face.

Kayla just looked down and hissed.

“I am not sure if I can still do this anymore. I feel like everyone and everything in this world hate me. They seem disagreed in all of my decisions. Shai, please tell me that I am not a bad luck person.”

“No, you are not. You are bless with your family and I. We are here to support you on whatever dream that you want to pursue.” Shaira, held her hand and gave her a comforting smile.

“Do not down yourself, Kay. Let’s go, come with me in what we called CES. I have a class this afternoon with our teacher, Bother Jackson. He is a great preacher!” Shaira, pulled her up from her chair and started walking with her to the CES buliding near at their school.

Kayla was thinking all the time what she could learn from that place. She knew that she will feel better from the lecture she would hear from the CES class.

Shaira has been a good friend to her since the first semester began. She always send messages about God and His service to the people when He was still living on earth.

She remembered the time when her parents broke up due to the financial problem that they are struggling for. She has no one to run for, but only her best friend Shai.

“I am sorry to hear that, Kay.” Shaira apologized.

Kayla hugged her tight while sobbing.

“Oh, Kay. You are not alone with this, we are your family.” Shaira assured.

“Thank you, Shai! I am just sad from the separation of my parents. They were my number one inspiration to pursue my dreams. The are my inspiration, Shai! I love them!” She cried.

“Kay, hush. I have something to share with you.”

Kay wiped her tears through her hands and stared at her best friend.

“I was so down in my high school life that I thought to give up my own life.” Shaira stopped for a moment.

Kayla’s eyes widened from the words that she has heard from her best friend.

“But of course I didn’t do that. A week later, two young man knocked on our door and introduced the message that they have for the people- that they are sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ that will heal our broken hearts and make us clean.

I stared at them for a moment before I called my father. He let them enter to share with us the beautiful message that they have for us.

By that time, I was shocked to know that my father is an inactive member of their faith.

I asked myself, how does it happened? But then, I realized why my father is so kind and loving to our family.

Three months after, I got baptized with my four siblings and one niece. That was the very first time I felt that I am not alone in this life, that Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ are always there for me from the beginning. They never left me alone. I felt very clean on that day- that was the happiest moment in my life.” Shaira smiled as she finished her story.

“Shai, you are strong. Thank you for sharing.”

End of flashback

“Hey, Kay! Are you alright?”

“Ha? What?”

“You were spacing out. Tss!” Shai sighed.

“Sorry. Let’s go.”

They entered the CES building. Kayla was kinda shy to see multitude of high school and college students in that building.

“Hey, Kay! Welcome to the CES!” Jackson exclaimed as smiling.

Kayla gave her a closed lip smile. Jackson was his classmate from her accounting subject.

“I’ll sit beside you at the class later.” Jackson added.

“Whatever.” Kayla whispered as she rolled her eyes.

On the class

Jackson conducted the New Testament class and welcomed Kayla Reyes. They did the opening exercises: Opening Hymn, opening prayer, and scriptural thought. They sang Away in a Manger.

Away in a Manger
Away in a manger
No crib for His bed
The little Lord Jesus
Lay down His sweet head
The stars in the sky
Look down where He lay
The little Lord Jesus
Asleep on the hay
The cattle are lowing
The poor Baby wakes
But little Lord Jesus
No crying He makes
I love Thee, Lord Jesus
Look down from the sky
And stay by my side
‘Til morning is nigh
Be near me, Lord Jesus
I ask Thee to stay
Close by me forever
And love me, I pray
Bless all the dear children
In Thy tender care
And take us to Heaven
To live with Thee there

Ramond led the opening prayer and Shaira shared a scriptural thought from the Book of Alma of the Book of Mormon. She red, “And he shall go forth, suffering pains and afflictions and temptations of every kind; and this that the word might be fulfilled which saith he will take upon him the pains and the sicknesses of his people”

Alma 7:11

“I testify that Jesus Christ lives, He is our Savior and Redeemer. He never leave me alone throughout this journey, as He will not leave you. He suffered so much pain to succor us. Let us trust His great plan and set our mind to eternal life. And as we do so, we will be more happier than what we are feeling right now. And I want to leave these things in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.”

Kayla felt a strong impression of the Holy Spirit without knowing that it is the Holy Ghost.

“Thank you, Shaira for sharing your testimony and that beautiful verse.” Brother Jacksom complimented.

“It’s a pleasure, Brother.” Shaira smiled.

“What Shaira has said is true. Jesus Christ will never leave us alone in this life. He is the only person that see our worth. Actually, the scriptural that Shaira has shared is related to our topic today: about the peace that Jesus Christ left to His apostles that can be found in John 14:27

Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

Kay just raised her hand and shared her feeling.

“A while ago, as Shai shared her testimony of Jesus Christ, I felt a burn in my bossom that I can’t explain. And after, I felt the comfort that I am longing for. Is it the peace of Christ that He left to His people?”

“We can say that what you felt is the Holy Ghost, which is commonly known as the Spirit of Christ. Oh, Kayla. Though you are not yet a member of the Church, I want to say that thy experience shall be for thy own good. And when the right time came that you are ready to listen to the message of our full-time missionary, feel free to ask Shaira.” Jackson replied then smiled.

*This story might be continued or may not. Also, this is just a fiction, but inspired.

Love ya all! 😊

18 Months of Service in the Philippines Naga Mission

“You are hereby called to serve in the Philippines Naga Mission in the period of 18 months.”

My heart swelled with joy when I red this message from the first presidency. I was so excited to fly to the Naga, Camarines Sur and serve the people there.

The experiences was so wonderful. It felt so good to witness how the gospel can change the lives of the people. Stories were inspiring and influential. So many great things I learned from Bicolanos and Bicolanas. They were so humble to live the gospel, and minister unto their families and neighbors. Oh… I am missing Bicol. I pray to go back there very soon.

I want to share all the conversion story I have witness in my service there, but I might consumed so much time to write. I would just start in my first area, Naga 2nd Ward.

First day in the field:

I have an American Trainer, one of the amazing missionary in our mission. She is so diligent and selfless in serving others. I have learned from her to forget my own concern, but rather think of helping others.

We worked in the very first day I arrived in Naga. I was so shocked to be assigned in the Squatter Area. I’ve never been in the squatter area before and I knew not how to communicate with its residence. But, instead of judging the people, I closed my eyes and said a little prayer. In my mind, I beheld a picture of selfless missionaries teaching the poor in heart people.

So I decided to continue; and told myself that if they can do it, then I can do it too.

I loved and appreciated the people in my first area despite of their status in life. And there, I learned to be simple and see others the way Heavenly Father sees them.

It doesn’t matter about our status in life but what matter most is what in our heart.

Let us pray for a gift of charity to see our brothers and sisters the way Heavenly Father sees them 😊🙏😊

After having a wonderful experience in my first area for 18 weeks, I got transferred to Tigaon 2nd Ward of Goa Stake. There, I saw the other side of life. Most of the people that are living there are farmers. They were so diligent in fulfilling their responsibilities as member of the family.

I remember the time when we were panted and no one to teach, we met a special family, namely Terio. At the very first moment that I saw them, I felt a strong impression to invite them to Church and set an appointment for our next visit. I did as what I felt and they accepted. We taught them, and in less than 3 months they got baptized. They were so sweet and kind whenever we were at their home: offering root crops and other foods that they had. That was the first time that I met people that were really faithful in the Lord and are willing to take risk to keep His commandments.

I have met different kind of people in that area. I really want to share all their story but it would take so much of my time today. Thus, I chose to continue this story next time. Enjoy reading.

Eliminating Child Labor

Children that are under ages of eighteen (18) are not meant to labor, they are meant to learn at schools, play with other children to improve their esteem and confidence, and to dream about their future. Children could be the teacher and an engineer of the future that we are dreaming, wherefore, we should unite to help them, we should be the one to take care of them.
Child laborers may have physical deterioration, low aspiration, and moral decay that would soon acquire distaste for regular employment in the future because they lack proper training and are physically worn out. The consequences are terrible: inferior aspiration, low spirit and deprive self confidence. If we do not take the responsibility for them, the future that we are dreaming for our future generation will gone astray. That is why we should be the one to initiate to fight for the freedom and rights of children to go to school and learn how to be a responsible citizen in the future.

Unspoken love

Three years ago, I met a guy, whom I never thought, would bring so much happiness and pain in my life.
I met him while we’re traveling to Poracay Pampanga, the venue of our SA conference. At first, I didn’t mind him, his not that attractive like those guys I’ve seen in hollywood movies. But as he approach us, I see how good hearted he is. Every simple word he says, my heart softened.
We became good friends for three years, to the point that, some of our friends thought that there’s a score between us.

But as what other people says, “nothing lasts forever” it didn’t last. After SA Conference 2016, everything about us has changed. And it hurts to know that he likes someone else.
